Now before I mention the class, I feel the need to say that there were many teenagers and adults of a young age at the class. Anything with the word 'yoga' in can often be stigmatised as a granny sport when in reality.... there was only 1 granny there, a granny who yes, was annoyingly good at Body Balance.
Throughout the class, relaxing but motivational music played right from the beginning when we did Thai Chi. As you may have guessed, I was slightly embarrassed at first. I am quite self conscious normally, without imaging holding a ball of energy that I moved from side to side. Nevertheless, I soon lost my inhibitions and as we moved into the Pilates, I was really enjoying the class.
After finishing the exercises, we spent the final ten minutes lying down with the lights off, doing relaxing yoga poses. And trust me- they were VERY relaxing, so much so that I could feel my eyes drooping every now and then and I wanted nothing more than to get under a quilt and go to sleep.
Being able to find something that makes you feel relaxed is so important in today's hectic society; be it a hot bubble bath, or sitting by the television watching Coronation Street, everyone needs something to help them unwind and take a step back to achieve a peaceful and more importantly, a happy state of mind.
